biography

Principal oboe of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2008.

José Luis studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Tess Miller and Celia Nicklin. In 2007 he graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded with the Principal’s Prize. He then studied at the Karajan Akademie with Jonathan kelly and played with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

José Luis has been guest principal oboe in prestigious orchestras such us the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, NDR Sinfonieorchester, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Deutsche Sinfonie Orchester.

He has been invited to coach the Landes Jugend Orchester Hessen, Joven Orquesta de Andalucía, Joven Orquesta Nacional de Cataluña, Filarmónica Joven de Colombia and has given masterclasses in Japan, Spain and Argentina. Jose Luis has played with Le dissonances, the Ensemble Mediterrain and from 2020 he will be playing principal oboe with the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
